Dr. Doolen received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University in 1991. He served as a Clinician at the College of Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital, Iowa State University from June 1991 to October 1994 before joining the Oakhurst Veterinary staff in November 1994. Dr. Doolen was an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania College of Veterinary Medicine from 1996 to 2001.

Dr. Doolen has been a Professional Consultant to the following companies and organizations: Ellman International, Inc.; Lafeber Company; Silogic Design, Inc.; General Scientific Corporation; Veterinary Specialty Products; Storz Veterinary Endoscopes; Medical Diagnostic Services; NJ Board of Veterinary Examiners.
