At Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital we believe that the importance of dental care for pets can not be understated. Our hospital is specially equipped to provide state-of-the-art veterinary dental care. Our doctors and staff are trained in the latest dental procedures and will work together with you to ensure that your pet enjoys the benefits of good oral health for life.

To discuss your pet’s dental care with any member of our staff, please call us at 732-531-1212. We will be happy to explain the benefits and importance of routine dental care, and can schedule an appointment to have your pet’s teeth examined and evaluated by one of our doctors. During this exam you will be provided with an estimate outlining the services that will be performed during the procedure.

Our dental services include teeth cleaning, scaling, and polishing as well as more involved procedures such as tooth extractions, dental x-rays and oral surgery. All of our patients are placed under general anesthesia and are carefully monitored using the latest monitoring equipment

Two of our newest additions to our dental program at Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital is our EVA digital dental radiograph machine and a product by Merial called OraVet.

The EVA (Enhanced Visual Assessment) System allows us to take digital dental radiographs of your pet’s teeth. Using a digital system allows us to get fast, accurate x-rays and minimizes both the animal’s exposure to radiation and time spent under anesthesia.

OraVet is a new product that we apply at the conclusion of your pet’s dental procedure. It acts as a barrier sealant that helps prevents plaque and tarter-forming bacteria from attaching to the teeth. For more information on OraVet or the Eva System, visit the links at the bottom of this page.

Most of our dental patients can go home the same day. One of our doctors will meet with you when you pick up your pet to explain your take-home instructions and answer any questions you might have.

Along with routine dental treatments at OVH, proper home care is very important to maintaining your pets oral health. Feeding your pet Hills Prescription Diet T/D is just one way to help ensure your pets long term dental health. For more information on Hills Prescription Diets, you can call our office or visit the link below.
