Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital is committed to employing the most current technological advances in veterinary medicine for the benefit of Oakhurst’s pets. As part of that commitment, our hospital uses digital X-ray imaging technology.
Digital X-rays differ from traditional X-rays in a similar way that film photography differs from today’s digital photography. The quality of the digital images is much greater than the older film version of X-rays. Our doctors can enlarge, invert, and enhance the images to detect even the smallest fractures and most subtle conditions, so diagnosing pet conditions is much more efficient and accurate. Digital radiology also allows our veterinarians to take fewer images, saving the patient exposure to radiation and saving on the overall cost of health care.
Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital’s doctors use digital X-rays in a variety of applications, including:
- Cancer screening
- Detection of ingested foreign bodies
- Detection of fractures
- Diagnosis of osteoarthritis
- Assessing exotic pet health conditions
- Pregnancy screening
Because of the digital nature of the X-rays, we are also able to easily share the images with specialists for consultation. Having the ability to get immediate feedback from board-certified radiologists, internal medicine specialists, oncologists, or any other specialist in veterinary medicine allows us to bring our patients the assurance of the most accurate diagnosis with the least amount of time, cost, and travel.
We also believe in keeping our clients in the communication loop on all of the procedures involved in diagnosing and treating their pets. Digital X-rays allow us to share images with clients from any workstation or exam room in our hospital or through email or even by cell phone.
While we hope your pet never needs to have X-rays, Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital is equipped and committed to providing the highest quality, most efficient and accurate diagnostic equipment possible to meet the needs of your pet.
