Pet Surgical Monitoring and Support
With any surgery, there are inherent risks, so our veterinarians have established our state-of-the-art surgical suite to meet and even exceed the highest standards set by the American Animal Hospital Association.
Every patient in surgery has a fully trained surgical technician in attendance to aid in monitoring through the procedure as well as through the recovery process. Some of the monitoring and support systems we routinely use in surgery include:
- IV fluids
- EKG monitor
- Pulse and oxygen monitor
- Body temperature monitor
- Heated surgical tables and warm air blankets to maintain temperature
- Esophageal stethoscope
- Blood pressure monitoring
Post-operative Monitoring and Support
At Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital, animals are under total observation until they are fully awake. Every pet is assigned a trained technician to remain with them throughout recovery to make sure they are pain free, comfortable, warm, and do not become anxious or scared.
