Wellness Exams

Dr. Wefer gives a clean bill of health!

We adhere to the highest standards of preventative care.

Because pets age more quickly than people, it is important that they are examined at least once a year.  Twice a year exams are recommended for cats and dogs five years or older.

Your pet’s wellness exam includes:
A thorough medical history, including all current medications, diet, behavioral problems, and risk analysis.

  • • Comprehensive physical examination, including evaluation of all body systems
  • • Oral/dental examination
  • • Otoscopic and ophthalmic examination
  • • Evaluation of skin and haircoat
  • • Auscultation of heart and lungs
  • • Discussion of the best preventative care options for your pet

Wellness evaluations may include blood screening for senior pets or pets with specific disease risks.  Urinalysis, blood pressure measurement, screening for glaucoma, electrocardiogram, x-rays, and/or other testing may also be recommended.

Annual heartworm testing is recommended for all dogs.
Bi-annual intestinal parasite testing (fecal examination) is recommended for all cats and dogs.
Year-round prevention for heartworm disease, intestinal parasites, fleas and ticks is recommended for all dogs and cats.
Our doctors will advise you on the best preventative care options for your pet.

Vaccinations:
We believe that vaccination protocols should be based on the individual needs of each pet.
