Our History

"The love between our clients and their pets is the basis for all that we do."

Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital has been a cornerstone of veterinary care since its origins as Millar Animal Hospital in the 1890s. Over the decades, we've grown into a cutting-edge 12-doctor practice, continually advancing with state-of-the-art technology and the latest in veterinary medicine. Our dedication to exceptional care reflects our bond with our community, which has supported us throughout our rich history.

Evolving to Serve a Modern World

As early as 2002, plans were underway to expand the hospital to meet the growing needs of clients and staff, continuing its history of innovation in veterinary medicine. In 2009, a 13,000 square foot addition was unveiled. This new space features state-of-the-art treatment areas, an intensive care unit, an advanced dental procedure area, five additional exam rooms, and a walk-in pet pharmacy. The facility also includes a cat-friendly waiting area and a luxury dog and cat hotel with a covered, climate-controlled outdoor exercise area.

The architectural design of the hospital presents an updated version of classic brick Jersey Shore style, aiming to maintain a friendly, comfortable atmosphere while enhancing efficiency and customer service. Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital proudly received the 2010 Veterinary Economics Merit Award for Hospital Design.

Today, our commitment to clients and to veterinary excellence is stronger than ever.

With a devoted and enthusiastic staff, we enjoy an outstanding reputation for providing pets and their owners with the very best in compassionate pet health care.
