Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital
Luxury Pet Spa & Lodging
Combining Safety and Comfort
Our canine guests are housed in individual glass enclosures with privacy panels, designed in small groupings with no more than four pets to a ward. Wards are sound insulated and have radiant floors. We believe glass enclosures, rather than cages or fences, offer pets and their families a higher level of safety and security. Glass enclosures also help prevent the spread of any infectious agents (although all compartments are disinfected and cleaned frequently).
Dogs are placed strategically so that pets cannot see one another to avoid stress and to increase the comfort of each guest. Every dog has a Kuranda bed to sleep on with fleeces or other blankets, and our floors are heated during colder months.
Our outdoor runs and exercise area are covered and have overhead radiant heat for cold days and cooling fans to help circulate the air during the hot summer months.
Cat Boarding
As a certified cat-friendly practice, Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital understands the unique needs of our feline guests. At our facility, cats are lodged separately from dogs in a soundproof space that is isolated and protected from the rest of the hospital.
We have special townhouses and condos where cats can choose to pass through a port where they can see out a picture window into the neighboring woods, relax in the sun, or simply hide away in a more secluded place.
Playrooms with toys and climbing platforms are provided for scheduled exercise times. Cats also get to spend time in the playroom every day of their stay.
Special-Needs Boarding
As a veterinary hospital, we are prepared to meet the needs of all our boarding guests. This includes pets with physical or medical conditions and aging pets who simply require more specialized attention. You can rest assured knowing our trained technicians can administer medications with the expertise and gentleness that comes with years of experience.
Our veterinarians are also on hand should any complications arise, and we are always happy to provide updates to owners regarding their pet’s condition.
Pet Hotel Policies
Vaccinations and Physical Exam:
All pets must have been examined by a doctor at Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital 6 months of their reservation. All pets must be current on vaccinations: DHPP, canine influenza, rabies and Bordetella (dogs), FVRCP and rabies (cats). If not immunized at Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital, proof of vaccination must be shown. If proof is not available, the vaccine(s) will be given upon your pet’s arrival. This is to protect your pet as well as others. There are no exceptions.
Fleas:
All pets are checked for fleas upon admission to our facility. If fleas are found, your pet will be treated with topical and/or oral treatment. This will make your pet more comfortable during his or her stay and will maintain our hospital as a flea-free area.
Soiling:
Any pet who becomes soiled while boarding will be bathed at our discretion. Soiled animals are uncomfortable and create an unpleasant odor in the facility.
Toys and Personal Items:
We discourage leaving items such as toys, blankets, bedding, or treats, as these items can be lost during routine cleaning and maintenance. Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital is not responsible for the loss or damage of any items left with your pet.
Medical Treatment:
If your pet becomes ill or injured while lodging with us, all medical and surgical treatments will be performed to ensure the health and wellbeing of your pet. Every effort will be made to contact you in the event of an emergency. All medical and surgical services are performed at the owner’s expense.
Discharge:
Pets will only be discharged to their owner. If your pet is to be picked up by someone other than yourself, written permission must be received when dropping your pet off. Pets cannot be discharged from the hospital when the office is closed. To ensure the safety of our staff, your pet, and for insurance purposes, there will be no exceptions.
