Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital
Eye Care
Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital provides comprehensive services and education aimed at maintaining your pet’s clear and healthy eyes.
Eye Exams
The eye is a delicate organ prone to injury, particularly in active pets. Our hospital specializes in diagnosing and treating a range of eye injuries and conditions such as dry eye, cataracts, glaucoma, and vision impairment.
If your pet displays symptoms such as squinting, eye rubbing, redness, cloudiness, changes in eye appearance, swelling, vision loss, abnormal eye movements, or unequal pupil sizes, prompt veterinary attention is advised.
The Eye Exam: What to Expect
During every routine wellness visit, your veterinarian conducts a thorough eye examination using an ophthalmoscope—a specialized instrument with a light and magnifying lens—to inspect your pet’s eyes.
Diagnostic Assessments
To diagnose and manage eye conditions, we perform specific assessments including fluorescein staining, tonometry, cytology, conjunctival scraping, Schirmer tear test, and bacterial culture and sensitivity testing.
