Dr. Matthew Schiffman was born and raised in Morganville, NJ. His love for animals began during cherished visits to his grandmother's home, where she had a bird and two dogs. This sparked his passion for pets, leading him to gain experience in the veterinary field through assistant positions. Dr. Schiffman pursued his education at Penn State, earning a Bachelor of Science, and later completed his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Schiffman joined the Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital as an associate veterinarian in 2021. Drawing from his own deep connection with his dog, Dr. Schiffman finds great fulfillment in strengthening the human-animal bond through compassionate and collaborative care that respects the needs of beloved pets. His professional interests include nutrition, orthopedics, and physical rehabilitation.

Outside of work, he resides in Jersey City with his wife Emily and their yellow Labrador retriever, Ducky. They enjoy the best of both worlds, living close enough to enjoy everything that NYC and the Jersey Shore offer.
